Following on from last night’s exciting news Chris Wood has very kindly provided us with more photos of FR3 and an account of how he and Fansu were able to track our young osprey down, which I’m delighted to be able to share with you.

“We should have been at Georgetown but came back from Tendaba early. We decided to call in at Bulok; difficult terrain so as we came to Kafuta I said to Fansu, let’s have a look.

We walked in again in this area…

Then we saw an Osprey on the same tree as one was in on Saturday. Fansu went to get digi-scoping attachment, we forgot it.

It was FR3 through the scope, the bird flew down below the mangroves then reappeared with a fish and fortunately took it to this tree. I managed to get closer and took digi-scope pics.”

Absolute privilege to see FR3 and spent a good hour with the bird, amazing!”

Stunning photos I’m sure you’ll agree and you can tell from Chris’ words just how much this meant to him (and through him, to us).

Massive thanks to Chris and Fansu for their sterling efforts in locating FR3.
