We are aware that a short time ago our male osprey brought back a fish to the nest which unfortunately contained a fishing hook and nylon thread. Whilst feeding, the adult female did for a short time catch her beak on the thread but after some vigorous head shaking she managed to get herself free. We believe that the line is still in the nest but due to the delicate stage of our chicks’ development we have taken the decision to carefully monitor the situation from a safe distance and refrain from any interference which may put our chicks in danger. Our ospreys will be continually watched and action may be taken in the future if deemed safe and necessary.
