It's hard not to be passionate about Highland Perthshire as a place to live in as well as visit. Hopefully these blogs prove the point!
As some of you may be aware, the Osprey Nest webcam is “glitching” again, showing a picture of an empty nest.
Rest assured, the ospreys are fine and have been quietly on and off the nest today. The male caught a large fish at 10.40am but kept it for himself until 11.40am before taking it up to the nest to give to the female. She promptly flew off, perched on Squinty Tree and had her meal. It was 1pm before she returned to the nest, clutching the remnants of the tail fin to eat later.
There have been no further moss or stick deliveries, instead they have both spent their time preening and gazing out across the loch.
Even the loch has been calm on this still, cloudy day. Occasional gaps in the cloud send streaks of sunlight across the scene, highlighting a few goldeneye and goosanders, picking out the pale gold reeds edging the water and spotlighting fallow deer grazing on the hill in the background.
We apologise for the viewing problems on the webcam and are working hard to return it to full service once again.
