Apparently in the 1970’s when some work was being done on the spire of the Atholl Memorial Fountain in Dunkeld, a bottle of whiskey was placed inside, we found nothing. Today as the current project nears completion, a time capsule was placed inside the hollow spire, it contains an item from the National Trust for Scotland, a commemoration of the Birnam Highland Games who are celebrating their 150th anniversary, a Commonwealth Games baton relay poster, a few mystery items and of course a wee something for any future stone masons who work on this part of the fountain, we wanted to ensure they are not disappointed next time!
