As I’m sure many of our keen webcam viewers will have noticed our current female hasn’t been spending an enormous amount of time on the nest. However, never fear, this is nothing to worry about. It may seem a little strange considering the previous female was rather partial to spending a lot of time in the nest, however our current female has taken rather fondly to an old tree just 10m away. To see an exclusive picture of the female on her new perch close to the nest why not subscribe to our new osprey e-news letter using the following link:

In other osprey related news, yesterday our female gave us quite the show. At 12:20 in the afternoon she left the nest and flew round the loch in full view of the hide. Excitement began to build as it was thought she was going to wash her talons, but to everyone’s surprise she instead plunged into the loch, came straight out and flew over to the bare trees right across from the hide. She sat for a moment and then treated us to another flying display. She flew over the nest and this time not only plunged in, but started splashing and bathing before she once more flew over to the bare trees. She sat very low down for a few moments before she repeated the process all over again. Finally she flew back to her perch to dry off after providing a delightful spectacle for the visitors.

Breakfast was served at 8.30am this morning when our male delivered a trout to the nest, but unfortunately his most recent catch was dropped in the process of chasing off a pair of intruding buzzards!
