Volunteer week - Drop in and find out about volunteering with the Trust in our visitor centre or on our reserves. There’s something for everyone! Displays, information and advice all week.

Nuts about squirrels - Discover your inner red squirrel with squirrel expert Ken Neil from Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels! Lots of squirrel-themed children’s activities including a red squirrel trail – follow the clues to win a prize. Suggested donation for activities: £2 per child.

Wildlife at midsummer – family fun days. Children’s craft activities, painting and scavenger hunt. Suggested donation for activities: £2 per child.

Sat 2nd & Sun 3rd July at 11am-4pm
Powerful pollinators – family fun days. Delve into the magical world of bees, butterflies and other vitally important pollinators. Helpful hints to attract them to your garden, crafts, quizzes and more. Suggested donation for activities: £2 per child.

Wildcats in the Angus Glens - A talk by Hebe Carus, of Scottish Wildcat Action, on the plight of one of Scotland’s most endangered mammals and what is being done to save them from extinction. Free but donations welcome.

Tales of Beatrix Potter - To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Beatrix Potter’s birth, come along and hear some of her famous tales read with lively enthusiasm by Lindsey Gibb! Learn about the real animals in these delightful children’s stories. Free but donations welcome.

Optics fair - A wide selection of binoculars and telescopes available to buy, with expert advice from the Opticron representative on hand.

Sat 27th August at 7pm-9pm
Brilliant bats – a walk and talk. Try your hand at bat detecting! Which bats will you find at Lowes? Adult £8, concession/member £6, child £3.  Wear suitable outdoor clothes and bring a torch.

Sat 10th & Sun 11th September at 11am-4pm
Discover diving ducks – family fun days. How deep does a duck dive? How long can it stay under water? Discover the answers and look for the ducks on the loch. Games and quizzes. Suggested donation for activities: £2 per child.

The Moray Firth bottlenose dolphins - Charlie Phillips gives a fascinating talk about the UK’s only resident population of bottlenose dolphins. Charlie is the Adopt a Dolphin Field Officer at Whale and Dolphin Conservation and a renowned wildlife photographer. Hosted by Birnam Arts Centre.  
Adult £10, concession £8, child £5. Tickets available from Birnam Arts Centre box office and Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre.

Sun 23rd October at 7.30pm-9.30pm
Stargazing at Loch of the Lowes - There are beautiful dark skies at Lowes, unspoiled by light pollution. Come along and join Robert Law from Mills Observatory in Dundee at this perfect location to view the night sky and learn about the stars. If the weather is bad, Robert will give a talk in the visitor centre. Adult £8, concession/member £6, child £3. Wear suitable outdoor clothes and bring a torch.

Deer me – family fun days. Find out about the majestic deer you find roaming our glens. Fun quizzes and craft activities all weekend. Suggested donation for activities: £2 per child.

Sat 17th & Sun 18th December at 11am-3pm
Winter solstice – family fun days Find out how the darkest days of winter affect wildlife. Children’s activities, quizzes and nature trail. Suggested donation for activities: £2 per child

Opening Times:
The Visitor Centre is open daily from 1st March to 31st October 2016 (from 10am to 5pm) and from 1st November to 28th February 2017, Friday to Sunday only (from 10.30 am to 4 pm).
